In collaboration with artist Barbara Friehs and the Viennese painter Josta, the art exhibition "Spirit and Soul" will take place at the Stross Gallery starting September 26. The artists present their current works. Art lovers are cordially invited to the opening. Admission is free. Registration is requested.
JOSTA
Influenced by his childhood in Vienna in the idyllic 1980s and his experiences in film and television, Austrian artist JOSTA's style combines expressionism and abstraction. His portraits, for example of Woody Allen and Marilyn Monroe, feature thick layers of paint with palette knife and broad brushstrokes that create a relief-like texture, as well as high-contrast colors such as turquoise, red, yellow and pink, complemented by spontaneous splashes for dynamism and emotion. His approach follows in the expressive tradition of Jean-Michel Basquiat and Georg Baselitz, but remains figurative and more accessible to pop culture. JOSTA's works are characterized by vibrant colors that reflect emotional depth, textured materiality and a combination of classical portraiture with modern abstraction.
BARBARA FRIEHS
BARBARA FRIEHS, an Austrian-Mexican artist, is known for her vibrant, expressive paintings with bold colors, dynamic compositions, and surreal, humorous themes that invite the viewer to explore form and emotion. She discovered her passion for painting at the age of twelve, but first studied advertising in San Francisco before devoting herself entirely to art. Inspired by frequent trips to Mexico, where her father is from, she creates detailed works in a meditative process that combine reference photographs with imagination. In her creative studio environment in Graz, she finds inspiration to create works of art that speak to the personality and mood of the viewer and open up new worlds.
URSULA STROSS
The gallery owner pays special attention to the works of innovative, up-and-coming artists. The gallery's offerings range from paintings and sculptures to fine art photography. Diverse exhibitions provide new impetus to the Graz art scene. In addition to exhibitions, the gallery regularly hosts events. Innovation, creativity, and aesthetics are Stross's credo. Her daily goal is to delight the art-loving eye and offer valuable investment opportunities.
